Comparative Evaluation of Operational Land Imager sensor on board Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 for Land use Land Cover Mapping over a Heterogeneous Landscape

چکیده
Since its advent in 1972, the Landsat satellites have witnessed consistent improvements sensor characteristics, which significantly improved accuracy. In this study, a comparison of accuracy OLI and OLI-2 land use cover (LULC) mapping has been made. For this, image fusion techniques applied to enhance spatial resolution both multispectral images, then support vector machine (SVM) classifier used for LULC mapping. The results show that classification from better (83.4%) than (92.4%). validation classified maps shows data is more accurate distinguishing dense sparse vegetation as well darker lighter objects. relationship between surface biophysical parameters using Local Moran’s I also performance sensor.

Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) Radiometric Performance On-Orbit
Expectations of the Operational Land Imager (OLI) radiometric performance onboard Landsat-8 have been met or exceeded. The calibration activities that occurred prior to launch provided calibration parameters that enabled ground processing to produce imagery that met most requirements when data were transmitted to the ground. Since launch, calibration updates have improved the image quality even...
متن کاملLandsat-8 Operational Land Imager Design, Characterization and Performance
The Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat-8 represents a generational change from heritage Landsat instruments in its design, while it maintains data continuity with the 40+ year Landsat data archive. It preserves the 30-m ground sample distance, 185-km swath width and VIS/NIR/SWIR spectral bands. Furthermore, data continuity resulted from extensive pre-launch and on-orbit calibration and ch...
متن کاملLandsat-8 Operational Land Imager Radiometric Calibration and Stability
The Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) was radiometrically calibrated prior to launch in terms of spectral radiance, using an integrating sphere source traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards of spectral irradiance. It was calibrated on-orbit in terms of reflectance using diffusers characterized prior to launch using NIST traceable standards. The radian...
متن کاملThe Spectral Response of the Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager
This paper discusses the pre-launch spectral characterization of the Operational Land Imager (OLI) at the component, assembly and instrument levels and relates results of those measurements to artifacts observed in the on-orbit imagery. It concludes that the types of artifacts observed and their magnitudes are consistent with the results of the pre-launch characterizations. The OLI in-band resp...
متن کاملMapping soil salinity using Landsat 8 images for land evaluation: A Case Study of Saveh
Introduction: As a valuable asset that play a key role in the environment, natural resources, and the production of agricultural products, soil provided an appropriate ground for plant growth and vegetation development. Therefore, any disregard to the preservation of such a valuable capital may result in food shortages, soil erosion, and degradation of natural resources. From among different i...
